Water Flag Ceremony

Our Water Committee went to the Radisson Blu Hotel in May where our school was awarded our third green flag.  We will be celebrating this award in school in June when we raise the flag.

Water Flag

We were working towards our third green flag all last year and continue to do so.  Our Water Committee will be going to Clonakilty on the 23rd January 2017 to a water forum.  We raised the awareness of various aspects to do with water and many classes have completed projects to show what they have learned.  Other classes have learned poems and songs based on water.  Last year, competitions were held to see how many taps/ toilets there were in the school - have a look at the photos to see who won these.  Prizes were awarded on 7th December 2016 - we even had to invite some of last years' sixth class pupils to come back to receive their certificates!  Water week runs from 30th January - 3rd February and we aim to increase the awareness of the importance of drinking plenty of water.

Spring Clean!

Our team of wrapper zappers clean up the road from Belgooly village to the school every April.  As you can see, they work very hard.  Well done!

Our Sensory Garden was built by staff from Eli Lilly in 2015/16.

Huge thanks for our beautiful sensory garden to Eli Lilly.  Our pupils and staff love this calm outdoor space and it is used in many capacities.  Have a look at some students enjoying the peace.

Our third Green Flag is for Water conservation.

Presently, we are working towards our third Green Flag.  Our Green team are implementing many water saving initiatives across the school.  The photo shows our team and Michael at the compost area.  Our water slogan is " Water is needy, It's not an app,  Don't be greedy, turn off the tap!"

The second Green Flag our school was awarded was for Energy conservation.

Our school received its second Green Flag from An Taisce on Wednesday 27th May 2015.

The Chairperson and Secretary of Green Committee accepted the flag on behalf of the school from Dr. Mary Stack , Cork Co. Council.

Our school garden came highly commended in 2013.

We are very proud of our school garden and we were delighted to be recognised by Muintir na Tire this year.

The first Green Flag our school was awarded was for Litter and Waste management.

Our slogan for this flag is -

"Bin your litter, it's cool!

That's what we do in Belgooly School!"

We were awarded this flag on 22nd May 2012 and we held a celebration with a flag raising ceremony on 14th June.  Our Green team, Ms.Moynihan, staff and wider community were very proud.

Our school garden was awarded best garden in 2011.

Thank you to all volunteer garden angels who helped us with our school garden.
