Junior  & Senior Infants  2016\2017 

Junior Infant school tour

This year both Junior Infant classes visited Rumley's Farm for their school tour.  We met Farmer Ivan who showed us many farm and animals from further afield.  They enjoyed a tractor ride and go-karting among many other activities in a fun-filled day!

 

Senior Infants school tour

Senior Infants went to The Glen Resource Centre on Thursday, May 11th. They had great fun on the Roller Racers, the Moonwalkers, the Bungee Trampoline, the Bouncy Castle and Snow Tubing!!

 

Fruit and water break for Junior Infants!

Junior Infants enjoyed some apples and water supplied by Centra, Riverstick recently.

Junior Infants walk to the Post Office!

Here are some pictures of Ms. O ' Neill's Junior Infants posting a letter to President Higgins.  First they learned about him, his dog and Áras an Uachtaráin. Then they helped compose the letter and took turns writing sentences. Lastly they walked down to the Post Office in Belgooly to post the letter. They had great fun!


 

Garda visits Junior Infants

Junior Infants had a visit from a garda at Easter time.  He showed them his uniform and all the equipment he needs to bring with him for his day.  They were lucky enough to be allowed into his garda car - as you can see they had great fun! 

 

Firefighter visits Junior Infants

Junior Infants learned all about the dangers of fire from a firefighter.  They even used the hose from his fire engine! 

Librarian visits Junior Infants

Junior Infants learned all about libraries and the treasure trove of books, magazines and films they store.

Nurse visits Junior Infants

Junior Infants learned all about what a nurse does at work.  They looked at some medical equipment and asked questions about what nurses have to wear to work.

Treat for Senior Infants

As a reward for their good behaviour and hard work all term, Senior Infants had a disco and then enjoyed some ice-cream in our beautiful Sensory Garden

 

Junior Infants enjoyed learning hurling skills this year!

Junior Infants learned many new GAA skills from their hurling coaches - thank you to all boys who trained all the classes.  They really enjoyed their matches at the end of the sessions!

Mini beast hunt!

Junior Infant classes went searching for mini-beasts in the garden recently.

Junior Infants enjoyed using iPads this year!

Junior Infants learned how to use many apps on our iPads this year.

Aistear - The Optician and The Vet

Junior Infants learned about visiting an optician and a vet through play.  They had great fun!

Junior Infants planted some bulbs in springtime.

Junior Infants made some lovely Mother's Day flowers.

Junior Infants planted seed potatoes

Both Junior Infant classes planted seed potatoes with Ms.Moynihan just before the Easter holidays.  We hope to harvest them before the summer break! 


 

Senior Infants celebrate the Year of the Rooster!

Ms.Collins' class made Chinese lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year!

Aistear in action

Junior Infants enjoy the Aistear themes "Hairdressing" and "Santa's Workshop".  They also enjoy some construction with bricks, playdough and straws.

Junior Infants investigate Water

Junior Infants discover what changes, if any, happen to certain materials when they are placed in water.  Children find out if their predictions were correct!

Snow!

Junior Infants rushed out to catch snowflakes but learned that they quickly melted into water in the heat of their hands!

Winter Welly Walk!

Junior Infants learned about Winter as they explored around their school.

Senior Infants enjoyed Drumming Sessions with Pat

Senior Infants learned about rhythm and beats when they had drumming workshops with Pat Naughton. Have a look at the pictures!

Senior Infants learned all about the Water Cycle

Senior Infants drew their own diagrams of the Water Cycle.  They also investigated what happens to water when it freezes and when it is heated.

National Tree Day

Senior Infants enjoyed following the tree trail around the school.  They had great fun collecting leaves for their leaf rubbings.

Senior Infants enjoy a popcorn party!

Ms.Collins' Senior Infants worked so hard this term they earned enough stars for a popcorn party!

Halloween Party

Both Junior and Senior Infants had a scary time at their Halloween party!  Thank you to our hard-working P.A. who organised this fun event.
