School Events 2019/20

School garden

Our sensory and wild flower garden are attracting lots of butterflies and insects this sunny September.

Halloween party

Thank you to the parents association for organising this fantastic event!  We saw many witches, ghouls and magical creatures attending this disco party!

Christmas celebrations

We had a special visitor (Santa Claus!) at Christmas time and all classes welcomed him with cheery Christmas songs.  All classes performed plays or concerts to an audience of enraptured parents and fellow students.

Marine week assembly

During Marine week, the whole school came together to celebrate what they had learned about keeping our marine environment clean and safe.  Junior infants sang "Baby shark", Senior infants said a poem "I'm a little penguin", First class also said a poem, Fourth class presented their presentation about "Seakeepers" and we all made the seakeepers pledge.  Fifth class shared their persuasive writing and there was plenty of marine art around the hall.  We were fortunate to have Pascale relay her knowledge of how to recycle with Tetrapak and use the money saved to support the Hope foundation.

Credit Union Quiz

We entered two teams into the Credit Union Quiz, held in February and March.  Ms.O'Neill helped to prepare those chosen and both teams were fantastic in their respective competitions.  Our U11 Quiz team won the Cork Chapter of Credit unions Quiz and qualified for the final in Dublin on the 5th April.

They secured a large monetory prize from the First South School Bursary which will be used to further education in our school.  Congratulations to both our teams and best of luck to U11's in the finals!
